We are entering our fourth competitive season. Our team has grown to 40 members competing in 2 leagues! We have a strong USAG competitive team for levels 4 thru 10. Our gymnasts and parents are committed to the team philosophy that North Shore brings to gymnastics. Our athletes train to be the best competitors both physically and mentally. Last year we entered several athletes in a recreational league, the Mason-Dixon League. While there are many similarities with the USAG league, there are many differences. This league provides an outlet for talented gymnasts to compete, yet does not necessitate the time committment from the gymnasts and their families. We have found the league to be alot of fun and the gymnasts have a great platform to showcase their talent. Our team is led by Sarka Dubna. Her Czech background has combined eastern European discipline with American family values. The results have been undeniable. Sarka coaches all levels for North Shore. Sarka's team of coaches includes Leanne Higgins, Iris Thompkins and Emily Darone. Leanne has a master's degree in Exercise Physiology and applies it to the girls very effectively. Her conditioning program leaves the girls wanting more! Currently, Leanne coaches most of the Level 4 5 and 6 girls. Iris comes to us with an extensive competive coaching background. Her unique style of coaching combines a competitive spirit among the young athletes with strong support for their teammates. She coaches the level 5 gymnasts at North Shore. Brooke Hughes has been with North Shore Gymnastics for 4 years. She is the coach for the Mason-Dixon League and develops the music and choreographs many of the routines the girls will use in competition. Loads of energy and lots of fun! At North Shore, we are ever mindful that our team members are children, and treated as though they were our very own. The team philosophy at North Shore Gymnastics is simple, we are a team. Gymnastics is built around the individual and the accomplishments and failures of the individual. The team at North Shore practices as a team, competes as a team, succeeds as a team and fails as team. Our coaching staff fully supports every member of the team, the team fully supports the coaching staff and the team members fully support each other! Egos and attitudes are checked at the door. The North Shore Parents' Organization is a newly formed organization membered by the parents of the team members. Every parent is required to participate physically and monetarily. The parents are an essential part of the team. The team philosophy includes the parents as well. Without their committment, success cannot be achieved.
